How often does the screenshot update?

Choose a daily or weekly refresh schedule. Daily captures suit frequently changing websites; weekly captures suit directories and resource libraries that need occasional updates. Free plans refresh weekly. A scheduled screenshot represents the page at capture time, rather than a live video feed.

How many evergreen screenshots can I create?

Each plan includes a fixed number of evergreen screenshots (Free: 1, Starter: 25, Professional: 100, Engine: 500). Every capture uses one screenshot credit from your monthly allowance, including the first capture and each scheduled refresh. Free plan images refresh weekly and include a small watermark.

How do I create an evergreen screenshot?

Create one from your dashboard, or send a POST request to https://api.screenshotengine.com/v1/evergreen-screenshot with the same options as a regular screenshot plus a daily or weekly schedule. AI agents can use the create_evergreen_screenshot tool on the ScreenshotEngine MCP server.

Does the image URL change after a refresh?

No. The image URL stays the same when a new screenshot is captured. You can keep using the same image source in your website, directory listing, or app without uploading another file or editing the link.

How is this different from a cached screenshot API response?

An API cache reuses an earlier capture when you make a screenshot request. Evergreen Screenshot API manages a saved image and a refresh schedule, so new captures do not depend on someone visiting the image URL. It also provides a stable link for embedding the image.

What happens if a scheduled capture fails?

The image URL continues to serve the last successful screenshot. You can check the last successful capture time and refresh status to see whether the image is current. A failed refresh does not replace the existing image with a broken file.

Where can I embed an evergreen screenshot?

Use the image URL in an HTML image element or a website builder that supports externally hosted images. It is useful for SaaS directories, client website overviews, and bookmark libraries. Tools that download their own copy of an image will need to fetch it again to display updates.

Will an updated screenshot appear immediately everywhere?

The link serves the latest successful capture with a 12-hour cache lifetime, so browsers and CDNs can show the previous image for up to 12 hours after a refresh. Third-party image proxies may keep an older copy longer, depending on the embedding platform. An already open page may also need to reload the image.

Can I use this to keep a screenshot history?

An evergreen link shows the latest successful screenshot. If you need a historical record, save individual captures separately. A changing image URL is useful for fresh previews; an archive needs preserved, dated versions.
